How to move to Paestum

A private car or rental car remains the most convenient way to explore Capaccio-Paestum and the surrounding coastline. Around the Paestum Archaeological Area and the railway station, both free and paid parking areas are available.
Paid parking facilities include:

Please note: some areas may have specific regulations or restricted access during special events.

Paestum Railway Station is served by Trenitalia regional trains and provides direct connections with Salerno, Naples, and other cities in Campania.
The walk from the station to the Paestum Archaeological Area takes approximately 15 minutes (about 1 km), making the train a convenient option for visitors travelling without a car.

The CIAV Consortium (Consorzio Italiano Autotrasporto Viaggiatori) manages urban and extra-urban public transport services in the municipality of Capaccio-Paestum, providing connections between Capaccio Scalo, Paestum Railway Station, the town centre, and the surrounding hamlets. The service operates from Monday to Saturday, with several daily runs on urban and circular routes.

In addition to CIAV, some regional bus services connect Paestum with other cities and coastal destinations, such as Salerno and Agropoli (for example, Line 34).

💡 Extra-urban bus services are particularly useful for reaching seaside locations, nearby towns, and stops further away from the archaeological area.

Local taxi services and chauffeur-driven car hire (NCC) are available to quickly reach the historic centre, the archaeological area, and the coastline.
