The Cilento of Authentic Villages
Day 1 – Castellabate
The medieval village of Castellabate, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, reveals itself step by step. The Castello dell’Abate watches over the village from above, a silent guardian of churches and squares filled with the scent of history. Among stone alleys and ancient arches, the historic centre echoes a suspended era.
💡The art of wood carving is still alive in local workshops. Taking the time to observe the artisans means rediscovering centuries-old skills that transform raw materials into sculptures and furnishings. Castellabate is also renowned for its ceramic craftsmanship and creations inspired by the sea.
Day 2 – Pisciotta and San Severino di Centola
The village of Pisciotta welcomes visitors with its ancient tranquillity. The walk through cobbled streets and the historic churches of San Pietro and Sant’Agnello is accompanied by artisan workshops and half-open doorways. Pisciotta is famous for its “alici di menaica” (a Slow Food Presidia product) and its Pisciottana olive oil: a drizzle of local extra virgin olive oil on a slice of fresh bread becomes the essential ritual of this land.

The itinerary continues towards the ruins of San Severino di Centola. Among abandoned houses and the bell tower, silence becomes profound, transforming the village into a place of peace and contemplation.
Day 3 – Morigerati
The journey enters the heart of Morigerati, a village where hospitality is considered a sacred value and traditions are carefully preserved.
📌Nearby, the Grotte del Bussento offer a primeval spectacle. Among ancient watermills, small bridges, and spectacular gorges, the trail leads visitors towards the roar of the underground river.
Day 4 – Teggiano and Roscigno Vecchio
Teggiano appears like a fortress of the spirit, with its ancient walls, watchtowers, and the majestic Castello Macchiaroli dominating the valley. Historic churches and the Museo Diocesano offer a solemn testimony of art and faith.
💡In August, the village transforms itself. The historical reenactment “Alla Tavola della Principessa Costanza” brings the Middle Ages back to life through period costumes, performances, and traditional dishes.
The journey ends in the ghost village of Roscigno Vecchio, known as the “Pompeii of the 20th century”. Here, visitors can be enveloped by the golden light of sunset: the sun illuminates the deserted façades and the central square, creating a landscape of rare beauty.
