Day 1 – Iconic architecture and waterfront
The exploration begins at Stazione Marittima, Zaha Hadid’s “oyster”, a symbol of the city’s new urban identity. From here, the view opens onto Piazza della Libertà, overlooking the sea and framed by the majestic curve of the Crescent, which reshapes the skyline with its rigorous geometric design. The route continues along Lungomare Trieste, where Mediterranean vegetation creates a sensory filter between the urban landscape and the blue waters of the gulf.

In the afternoon, the dialogue between past and present continues at the Museo Archeologico Provinciale. Here, digital technologies and 3D installations bring ancient artefacts back to life, allowing the famous bronze head of Apollo to emerge from the shadows with renewed expressive power.
Sunset accompanies the final stages of the Salerno waterfront experience, among sea-view aperitifs and restaurants overlooking the gulf.
💡 During the high season, visitors wishing to further explore contemporary architecture can continue eastwards to Marina d’Arechi Port Village. Here, sunlight reflects on the geometric shapes of the marina, creating a fascinating atmosphere to enjoy among lounge bars, aperitifs and restaurants on the pier. For those without a car, especially in the evening hours, taxis are the most convenient option. The area can also be reached by Metropolitana di Salerno, getting off at the “Stazione Arechi” stop and continuing on foot for approximately fifteen minutes.
During the winter season, visitors can take the opportunity to admire the spectacular light installations of the renowned Luci d’Artista.
Day 2 – Historical renewal and Urban Art
The second day is dedicated to the ancient heart of the city, where the past is preserved through a contemporary vision. The Giardino della Minerva, the historic botanical garden of the Scuola Medica Salernitana, represents one of the most significant examples of landscape restoration.
